About Science Prof Online
This website, Science Prof Online, is a free science education resource, mainly designed for high school and college-level students. Currently we are adding materials for young children, a Kids Science section with experiments and other science activities for families and classrooms. If you begin to make science a regular part of your family's shared experiences, it may be fun and worthwhile to set up a small laboratory space in your home.
A metal sheet make a great lab bench surface because it can be easily cleaned and disinfected. Sheets, such as the one pictured to the right, are available at home supply stores, typically for about $25.
Good lighting is also essential. In this lab round LED lights were added on the ceiling and under the book shelf, and a goose-neck lamp allows for spotlighting.
Cupboards below, outfitted with plastic drawers and bin, keep science supplies clean and organized.
